Game Summaries

7/17 Westbrook vs Portland 2-4 (Portland)

Westbrook goes down in two straight games, in the district all stars . A well pitched game by Trevor Bates and Kyle Bourassa splitting, time on the mound, Westbrook was unable to "sure up" their defense, that troubled them in game 1, and went on to lose 4 -2. All Portland's runs were unearned. Westbrook pitching was superb! Westbrook appeared to come out of the gate firing on all cylinders, as the first 3 all stars reached base safely, loading them up for the 4 - 5 -6 hitters to do some damage, but Portland would not let that happen as Westbrook could not get a run home. Portland held Westbrook scoreless, until a 7th inning rally made it interesting. In the 7th, Westbrook put the first 2 players on and that called for a Portland pitching change. Westbrook got 2 quick runs, on a Trevor Bates single up the middle and then got him advanced to 2nd, with just one out, but could not push any more runs across the plate. Westbrook was held to just 2 hits (Trevor Bates & Matt Moody). The coaches thank the boys for their time and efforts and encourage you to go out and support the 14 & 15 year old all stars .

7/14 Scarborough v. Westbrook 5-1 (Scarborough)

Westbrook 13 yr old all stars lose a tough opening game 5 - 1 to Scarborough team (scarb./so. port/cape/falm.). Westbrook fell behind 2 - 0 early after squandering a chance to score of their own and then couldn't get the bats going until late and go down 5 - 1. Westbrook had bases load 2 times in the late innings, coming up empty handed in the 5th, then scoring just once in the 7th, with bases loaded and no outs. Joe Dvlinsky pitched 5 2/3 solid innings, before some defensive lapses opened up the gate for 3 additional runs, putting Westbrook in the hole 5 - 0 . Trevor Bates came in to shut them down and keep it at 5 - 0. Westbrook scored its lone run when Alex Benson slapped a single to left. making it 5 - 1, but Westbrook could not get another hit, with the bases loaded and no one out. Kyle Bourassa had 2 hits, including a double and Joe Quinlan scored the lone run for Westbrook.
